Alberta Graduated Drivers License Program

Class 7

Must be at least 14 years of age to pass Class 7 Learners

  • Must be accompanied by a fully licensed Non-GDL Driver when practicing driving
  • Cannot drive between 12 am-5 am
  • Zero Alcohol Tolerance for this Class
  • Every person must wear a seat belt.
  • At 8 demerits license will be suspended.

Class 5

Must be at least 16 years of age and have held your Class 7 for a minimum of 12 months

  • Zero Alcohol Tolerance for this Class
  • Every person must wear a seat belt.
  • At 8 demerits license will be suspended.
  • Cannot accompany a Class 7 Learner to practice driving
  • Can not upgrade to a commercial license
